How to Style: The Skater Dress

Olympics 2012 are coming up...and what better way to get ready for them, than doing it through fashion. Yes! Ladies; the darling cute SKATER DRESS, which is inspired by the dresses worn by figure skaters.

Skater Dresses are the trend this winter, take a look at how I style them...

Black Skater Dress
Jeffrey Campbell Lita Booties
Red Skinny Belt
Red Fold Over Clutch
Dangling Earrings
Statement Ring

The Little Black Skater Dress; kept it simple with just 2 colors. This look is perfect for going out, you can add a blazer and stockings if its too chilly. I absolutely adore the Jeffrey Campbell Lita Booties...

Cobalt Blue Skater Dress
Tangerine Blazer
Sling Bag
Tights with Hearts
Flat Pumps
Stud Earrings

Cobalt Blue and Tangerine go so very well together. This is more of a casual look, love the stockings with hearts.

Leopard Print Skater Dress
Black Layering Top - Foschini R90
Black Skinny Belt
Denim Jacket
Nude Pump
Black and Gold Chunky Bracelet
Gold Hoops
Red Shopper Bag

Leopard Prints are a must have this season, and here I paired them with the all time favorite, denim. With this pairing, I added the layering tops. One of the things I love about winter, is layering.

Where You Can Find A Skater Dress:

YDE has Skater Dresses on sale for R450...I am not sure what colors they have though.

Below, I tried to style two different ones from YDE

Skinny Jeans: Fall / Winter 2012

Skinny Jeans are definitely a staple for any wardrobe; whether its Winter/Summer. They come in all kinds of different colors, and quite easy to style...

Here I took 4 of the basic colour; Blue, Black, Gray and Red...

Red - Menswear

Red Skinny Jeans
Black Boyfriend Blazer
White Sleeveless Button Up
Black Belt
Messenger Clutch Bag
Leopard Print Bootie
Vintage Gold Necklace

The menswear look is totally in; and I just love it. If you like the look, invest in a Messenger Bag or Clutch; as well as the Vintage Necklace or Gold Collar Necklace (tried looking locally for these, but could only find them  online)

Grey - The Biker Chic(k) Look (Almost)

Grey Sknny Jeans
Leather Jacket
Pink and Grey Sweater
Brown Ankle Boot
Rose Gold Hoops
Mint Green Nails

The only think that makes this pairing biker chick, is the leather jacket :)
I love grey skinny jeans with a brown ankle boot, this look is very laid back and for Winter.

Black - Nerdy in Neon

Black Skinny Jeans
Crisp White Shirt
Neon Yellow Sweater
Messenger Sling Bag
Black Brogue Lace Up Shows
Neon Green Statement Ring
Nerdy Glasses

The cute as a button nerdy look is one of my favorites...any girl who pulls this look off has my respect. Nerdy glasses, man's sweater and the brogue shoes make this look. For some good quality Brogue Shoes, check out Foschini here

Blue - The Casual Friday Look

Blue Skinny Jeans (Distressed)
Grey Fitted Blazer
Pink Sleeveless Top
Nude Pumps
Brown Leather Tote
Statement Ring

When you want to wear your jeans to the office and still look professional; this pairing is perfect for you. Every girl need to invest in a pair of nude pumps, they are great with skinny jeans and help elongate your legs. My favorite item here; the brown leather tote.

I left out the white skinny jeans on purpose, look out for a post just dedicated to them.
Thank you for reading.

How To Wear: Leather Pants

YDE R380.00

These pants are by ICON Ready to Wear and available at YDE for R380.00

I absolutely love these pants and they are perfect for the Fall/Winter weather. They are very easy to style, either up or down or to get that chic look, or even the rock chick look.

I have paired them with different types of fabrics; from chiffon, to knitwear, and from cotton to lace. I have tried to make the pants the main focus of each look.

Black Leather Pants (available at YDE for R380.00)
Emerald Green Chiffon Top
Black Bag
Statement Gold and Emerald Ring
Black Stilleto Pumps (Sissy Boy for R380.00)

The 1st pairing is very chic and put together. I have paired the leather pants with a chiffon top, the material is soft and compliments the leather. The black heel pumps finish off the outfit. Complete the look with a emerald and gold statement ring, black bag and black nail polish.

Black Leather Pants (available at YDE for R380.00)
Grey Vest
Yellow Lace Blazer
Black Shopper
Silver Hoops
Black Wedge Shoes (Sissy Boy for R420.00)

I know what I said earlier about the pants being the focus, but this yellow lace blazer kind of takes center stage. Here I'm pairing the pants with a cotton grey vest, put the stunning yellow lace blazer on top (not sure if these blazers are still available, or were even sold locally; but I am sure that you can take a regular blazer [black or white even tan] and get a bright colored lace material and get someone to put it together for you.). Finish off this pairing with some silver jewelery, black shopper bag and a black wedge shoe. This look is perfect for a night out.

Black Leather Pants (available at YDE for R380.00)
Oversized Sweater
Leopard Print Scarf
Lace Up Ankle Boots in Tan
Gold Watch
Orly Lollipop Nails

Pairing number 3 is laid back, features one of my favorite item of clothing; the oversized dolman sleeve sweater/top. This top is knitwear, which contrast the leather pants in a good way. Love the tan lace up booties, complete this pairing with a gold watch/bracelet, a leopard print scarf and some cute nail polish.

Black Leather Pants (available at YDE for R380.00)
Stripped Vest
White Boyfriend Blazer
Purple Shopper
Black Flat Pumps
Silver Necklace

Casual, comfortable and laid back. This look is perfect for shopping and running errands or just a going to lunch with friends. I have paired the pants with a stripped vest, a white boyfriend blazer, black flat pumps, silver necklace and a purple bag.

These pants has to be one of the easiest things to style, I absolutely love them. The pairings that I have not posted on the blog, will be posted on the blog's Facebook page, which can be found here

Note: Posts on pairing will be done on a weekly basis, daily stylist tips will be on the Blog's Facebook Page

How to Wear: Harem Pants

I am back! Apologies for the long silence. Took a break to study and complete an assignment or two, but I am back and ready to post again. There are such a lot of blogs and webpages on the internet about fashion and style, once I start surfing I just can't stop (I enjoy it though, don't get me wrong)

With all this information available it's important to stay true to your own style, be original and stand out. It is so easy to just "google" and find things nowadays; but how do you stay true to your own personal style, and still manage to keep up with the trends? Sure the outfit looked good on someone else, but that doesn't necessarilly mean it would look good or you, or it won't.

Staying true to my own personal style and favorites; today I am going to style a pair of HAREM PANTS, YES! Those MC Hammer Pants. LOL. I just love them and I know most people have a lot to say about them, but I just don't care.

So here are 3 pairings with the "MC HAMMER PANTS" :)

Brown Harem Pants
Orange Thin Belt
White Button Up Shirt
Nude Heels
Nude Bag
Cream and Gold Vintage Necklace

In this 1st pairing, I used brown harem pants. Paired them with a simple white button up shirt. The bag, shoes and necklace are all neutral colors, with the thin orange belt for some color.

Black Harem Pant
Black and Pink Racer Back Top
Denim Jacket
Vintage Pumps
Black Shopper Bag
Silver Pendant Necklace
Oversized Sunnies

I used a pair of black harem pants, paired with a pink and black racer back top with a denim jacket. Loving the vintage flats in this color, finish things off with a black shopper bag, silver pendant necklace and oversized sunnies.

Black Harem Pants
Black Sleeveless Shirt
Striped Blazer
Green Bag
Clog Heels
Vintage Silver Necklace

The last pairing is also of a pair of black harem pants, paired with a black sleeveless shirt. The focus of this pairing though would be the striped blazer, and I'm good with that. Accessorize this pairing with a vintage silver necklace, green sling bag, and black clog patforms.

All these 3 pairings are definitely for early Fall, and harem pants are definitely "all year round" kind of clothing item.
